ABOUT US
our STORY
CCOBRA is a local Marana/Tucson club that has been hosting barrel racing event for over 20 years. We are a 4D barrel racing association that gives runners of all abilities an opportunity to win prize money as well as year-end awards.
Our year starts in January and ends in November. We pride ourselves by hosting 12-14 fast, fun and smoothly run events a year as well as hosting a year-end banquet that allows every member to be recognized and show cased for their accomplishments. Each member receives a membership award and the top competitors are presented with saddles, buckles and numerous other prizes.
Newcomers are always welcome. Come ride, cheer, and socialize with us! A bit about Barrel Racing"Barrel racing tests the speed and agility of a horse and rider in a cloverleaf pattern around three identical barrels. The clock is started electronically as the horse crosses the starting line at full speed. The rider may chose to maneuver around the cloverleaf towards the right or left, and the clock stops when the pattern is completed and the horse crosses the finish line. A five-second penalty is given for each barrel that is overturned. However, no penalty is given for touching a barrel, even if it is done to keep it from falling. A contestant is disqualified for crossing the finish line without completing the standard cloverleaf pattern." (excerpt by Brenda Ruggiero)
